The Quattro Pro Screen

When you run Quattro Pro, you are first confronted with a screen which looks like this: Opening Quattro Screen

The Menu Bar

The Menu Bar contains many menus of tools for performing tasks in Quattro Pro. The menu bar can change depending on the task in question.

A quick description of the function of each menu item appears in the title bar as you highlight the menu item.

The ToolBar

The ToolBar contains commonly used buttons as shortcuts for the most used functions in Quattro Pro. There are several pre-set menu bars for particular tasks. Right-click the ToolBar to bring up its Quick Menu if you want to change to a different ToolBar, or click the second last button on the Property Band. The most used bar is called Main.

The ToolBar can be customised to reflect the tasks which you use most. To customise it, run the [ToolBar Designer] under the [Tools] menu.

A quick description of the function of each button appears in a yellow pop-up box and on the title bar as you position your cursor over the button.

The Property Band

The Property band is the grey bar beneath the ToolBar which allows you to change the properties of the selected cell or block. The last button of the Property Band allows you to change the properties of the Application, NoteBook, Current Page or Block.

A quick description of the function of each button appears in a yellow pop-up box and on the title bar as you position your cursor over the button.

The Input Line

The Input Line is where you input data into the active cell, be it a text label, a date, a number or a formula.

The Input Line also displays the contents of the active cell, which may differ from how it appears on the spreadsheet page. For example, it displays a formula in full, or the date or time number.

The NoteBook Window

Each NoteBook is contained in its own window inside the Quattro Pro window. You can maximise the NoteBook window to take up the full area possible, and switch between open NoteBooks under the [Window] menu.

The Status Line

The Status Line is the grey line at the bottom of the Quattro Pro screen, which can display the time, whether overwrite is on (OVR - toggle on and off with the [Insert] key), etc.

Quick Menus

Quick menus are available by right-clicking on a part of the Quattro Pro screen. Right-click a cell or block for the Block Menu. Right-click the ToolBar to select a different ToolBar. Right-click the title bar for the Application Property Browser, or the active page tab for the Active Page Property Browser.
